Work to complete the new youth and community building on St Philip's church field has started.
The work will take around 10 weeks to complete, although the shell of the building should be up by the end of August. See the plans for the project here.

Vicar reports at World AIDS Conference |

| Vicar Alan Bain will be reporting from the 2010 World AIDS conference in Vienna on all the latest news about the HIV and AIDS pandemic this week and next. CHAA vice-chair, Alan will also be filing reports with the Church Times and Baptist Times and will be live on BBC local radio stations across the UK on Sunday morning 25th July between 7-9am. Over 100 members of St Philip & St James Church spent an afternoon picnicking at Chew Valley Lake on Sunday 13th June. Members enjoyed the sunny afternoon with games, music, poi, exploring the local area or simply relaxing and chatting all finished off with an open air service. |

Sustainable Energy Project begins |

The first phase to fit insulation to the loft and cavity walls is now complete. It is estimated these measures could save up to half our heating bills because of the inefficiency of the previously uninsulated building.
The second phase, to fit 98 solar photovoltaic cells to the roof to produce 75% of our electrical energy needs, starts on September 6th.

Solar power for Indian Orphanage |

Solarsense, the solar power installers from Bristol have just finished fitting solar photo voltaic cells to the Bishop Bexell orphanage in India. St Philips has supported the orphanage since 2007.
The panels will generate almost all of the Orphanage power needs.
