The plan is to build a 126 m2 wood building at the rear of the church which will include a large meeting room that can be divided into two by a sliding screen, kitchen, disabled toilet and shower making the building adaptable and self-sufficient with its own independent access. There will also be a covered link joining it to the main church building.
It will provide a base for youth work, provide accommodation for visiting groups, be available for community and schools use and any other church meeting which is necessary in what has become a very well used building. At present there is more demand for space from outside groups than we can provide and we anticipate the new building will provide income for the church.
The total project cost is estimated at £100,000 but we may be able to reduce this to around £74,000 if we do some of the work ourselves. We have a fund-raising group applying for grant funding and have had generous contributions from church members on our gift day on June 6th 2010. Church members prayed for the project over the same weekend and had some words and pictures about the building.
So far the old Manna House has been dismantled and the foundations have been succesfully laid.
